Hi, I'm Meredith. Welcome to Serenity & Sweet Tea.
I'm so glad you're here, friend. Pull up a chair. Pour yourself some sweet tea. You're safe here.
My Story
I'm a full-time caregiver for my daddy, who has dementia, two types of cancer, and an aneurysm. I also work full time. Most days, I wake up at 1:30 AM to get ready for work, spend the day trying to hold it all together, and come home to care for him until late at night.
Some days, he knows my name. Other days, he calls me by my mother's name—who passed away in 2021. And I just... keep showing up. Because that's what we do, isn't it? We show up. We hold it together. We keep going even when we're running on empty.
If you're reading this, you probably know what that feels like.
The exhaustion that sits in your bones. The grief of losing someone who's still alive. The guilt of wanting rest when everyone still needs you. The weight of being the strong one, the caregiver, the one who handles everything.
I see you. And I'm here to tell you: You're not alone. You're not failing. And you deserve support.
Why I Created The Porch Light Circle
There came a point in my caregiving journey when I realized: if I don't take care of myself—even in the smallest ways—I'm going to completely burn out. And then I won't be able to show up for Daddy at all.
But every piece of "self-care" advice I found felt impossible.
"Take a bubble bath!" I don't have time.
"Go on a vacation!" With what money and who's watching him?
"Just relax!" My nervous system forgot how.
So I created what I needed: Simple, real, doable tools for women who are drowning.
Not hour-long meditations. Not expensive spa days. Not another thing to add to your overwhelmed to-do list.
Just gentle, practical support for your exhausted heart and maxed-out nervous system.
What The Porch Light Circle Is
The Porch Light Circle is a soft place for overwhelmed women—especially caregivers and Southern women who've been taught to say yes to everything and put themselves last.
This is where we talk about the real stuff:
The hard days when you don't recognize yourself anymore
The grief of caregiving and loving someone who's slipping away
The guilt of wanting rest when you "should" be grateful
The exhaustion of being everything for everyone and nothing for yourself
The nervous system that's stuck in survival mode
The boundaries you need to set but don't know how
Here, we hold space for all of it—without toxic positivity, without shame, without pressure to have it all figured out.
The porch light is always on. You're always welcome here.

My Faith & Values
I believe that rest is sacred. That you don't have to earn the right to exhale. That your worth is not measured by your productivity or how much you can carry.
I believe in grace—for yourself and others. In the power of showing up imperfectly. In the strength it takes to be soft in a world that demands you be hard.
I believe God meets us in our exhaustion, our grief, our questions, and our quiet moments on the porch when we finally let ourselves be still.
And I believe that you are not too much and you are not too little. You are enough, exactly as you are.
A Note on "Serenity & Sweet Tea"
You might see this name pop up—it's the umbrella for my work. Serenity is what we're all searching for. Sweet Tea is how we get there: slowly, gently, with a little sweetness and a whole lot of Southern grace.
Whether you're here for caregiver support, nervous system tools, or just need someone who gets it—you're in the right place.
